Using unique, specially developed dyes, Lysonic^tm inks have a display life never before seen from dye based Ink jet inks. Independent testing carried out by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. www.wilhelm-research.com of Grinnell, Iowa has shown that a Lysonic ^tm ink set has an estimated life of up to 55 years on a pure cotton paper in average indoor display without noticeable fading. This figure exceeds even the best color photographic media and finally allows small and large format Ink jet printers to be used for the production of high quality Fine Art work.

The Lyson Quad black process uses four intensities of black ink in place of the normal CMYK colors in a standard Photo Realistic ink jet printer. By using simple color curve adjustments in image software such as Adobe PhotoShop, stunning black & white images with tonal graduation to match traditional silver Halide printing can be produced.
Lyson Quad Black inks are available in three different
types to match the image style required: -
Lyson Quad Black Cool Tone inks - to provide a cool black output.
Lyson Quad Black Neutral Tone inks - to provide a neutral black output.
Lyson Quad Black Warm Tone inks - to provide a warm black output.

All Lyson Quad Black inks have an extremely long life without noticeable fade in average indoor display conditions. Lyson's own testing indicates that Quad Black prints exceed the display life of most traditional silver halide images. Lyson Quad Black inks are supplied ready for use in new compatible cartridges to fit a range of popular Photo printer models. A full range of media is available that features matched coatings to provide bright crisp images with the least compromise on image permanence.

Print Guard is designed to provide a protective
coating to images produced using ink jet printers,
drawing inks and water colors.Print Guard is
a clear laquer and when applied to water solulable
images greatly increases UV resistance to fading,
reduces the possibility of damage to the image,
and provides a splash proof water resistance coat.
Not only does it protect the image from the
environment it also reduces the possibility of color
shift observed in the fading process.

The current OEM inks and media offering for Photo printers have an indoor display life of between 1 and 5 years without noticeable fade as independently tested by Wilhelm Imaging research Inc (www.wilhelm-research.com). Fotonic inks use unique, specially developed dyes to increase a prints useable life by an estimated 5-6 times. The Fotonic inks and media are currently on test at Wilhelm with results due for publication during late 1999.
 

The last few years have seen a rapid increase in the purchase of Grand Format and solvent based ink jet machines for the outdoor market, driven by the demand for Billboard size prints, banners, and vehicle graphics. The early machines were very slow, low resolution devices and generally the fade resistance of the ink used was very poor. This along with the quality of the ink itself caused a slow acceptance of this type of technology.

Lyson have actively been involved in this market for the last four years and have advised many of the machine manufacturers on how to improve the quality and UV resistance of their inks, particularly on the newer higher resolution devices. Lyson are now able to offer a range of inks and coatings for most models of printer, with far superior performance in quality, fade resistance and price than the original equipment manufacturers.

The Arizona^TM
Having actively developed inks for the Piezo print head used in this machine for the last five years, Lyson have a knowledge of this technology that is second to none. Our current ink range uses safe, low odour solvents and offers unrivalled runability, colour and fade resistance. Lyson is actively working with a number of vinyl manufacturers to offer a warranty that at least equals the one offered by 3MTM.

Vutek 1630-3200TM/Signtech Powerjet^TM
Unlike the current OEM supplied ink, Lyson inks for these machines do not suffer from thickening up or settlement over a period of time. This eliminates the need for the operator to constantly add solvent to correct the viscosity therefore improving the reliability and ease of use of machine. Our inks also have a broader gamut and near process colour making corporate spot colours easier to match. Our tests give these inks a 3 year outdoor life with no over coating on most materials and 5 years plus if used in combination with Lyson's own clear coat.

Signtech Salsa^TM
After extensive testing on the machine, Lyson have come up with inks that use brighter colours providing a much improved colour gamut. The inks also improve the reliability of the machine whilst printing. No dropouts were seen on the test machine, therefore reducing the number of passes required to produce a good image and so increasing productivity when compared to the OEM inks. As with all Lyson Grand Format ink ranges, our inks for this machine have an outdoor life of 3 years on most materials with no over coating. Again, Lyson's own clear coat product will increase this to 5 years plus.

Vutek 3300-5300^TM 16 & 32 head
Again, Lyson have worked with the Piezo print head used on this machine for many years. The inks we manufacture for these machines use much more fade resistant pigments, have brighter colours, improved drying time and avoid the use of undesirable solvents when compared with the OEM originals. Our tests have shown a minimum of 2 year outdoor life with no over coating on most materials. This is again increased to 5 years plus when used in combination with Lyson's own clear coat.
